Experimental Perspective Prototype (University Project)
A university experimental project exploring how player decision-making and level design change when switching perspectives in real time.
Built as a testbed rather than a full game, this prototype challenges typical design trends by focusing on a single question:
How does the same space feel when experienced from completely different perspectives?
Players can switch seamlessly between a top-down view and an over-the-shoulder perspective, forcing constant adaptation in movement, navigation, and positioning. The levels are designed to support both viewpoints, encouraging flexibility rather than a fixed “optimal” playstyle.
Core Features
- Real-time perspective switching (Top-down ↔ Over-shoulder)
- Movement-driven traversal (double jump, dash, wall jump)
- Dual-purpose level design supporting both perspectives
- Fast, responsive mobility with vertical and horizontal options
Design Focus
- Impact of perspective on spatial awareness
- Maintaining readability across multiple viewpoints
- Encouraging adaptive play over rigid optimisation
Controls
- WASD – Movement
- Space – Jump (Double Jump)
- Shift – Forward Dash
- V – Switch Perspective
- Wall Jump – Jump against surfaces to gain height
